RODERFIELD (WVVA) -  A McDowell County man is now in custody after police say he intentionally burned down a mobile home he was living in.

On Thursday the McDowell County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Jimmy Ray Carter, 60, of Roderfield, and charged him with 1st Degree arson and felony destruction of property.

The Sheriff's Department says Carter burned down the home on Old Tram Road in the Shabby Run Hollow area Thursday.

Police say Carter did not own the home and had been in a dispute with family members over ownership.

Carter was arraigned before McDowell County Danny Mitchell and was remanded into custody of the McDowell County Holding facility in Lieu of $30,000.00 Bond.

Members of the Roderfield and Welch Volunteer Fire Departments extinguished the fire. The single wide trailer was a total loss.

The fire caused damage to A.E.P. and Frontier Communication service which resulted in loss of service to local residents.

The fire remains under investigation.
