West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant tours the coalfields of WV

BECKLEY, W.Va.- WV Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant will be visiting the southern coalfields of WV.

West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie E. Tennant will tour the southern coalfields of West Virginia on Tuesday, May 14, where she will discuss civic responsibility with high school seniors in Beckley, the economic development made possible by the Hatfield-McCoy ATV trails in Pineville, and the region's business climate at the annual Mullens Area Chamber of Commerce Reception in Mullens.

Secretary Tennant will meet with an estimated 75-100 high school seniors and speak with them about civic responsibility and the importance of registering to vote and casting their ballot. Secretary Tennant will share with the students the story of Senator Jennings Randolph of West Virginia, whose decades long fight resulted in the 26th Amendment to the US Constitution granting voting rights to 18-year-olds.

Secretary Tennant will tour the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system in the area around Pineville, and will be available to comment about the economic impact the trail system has on the region.

Secretary Tennant will be the keynote speaker at the Mullens Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Reception, and will speak about the importance of streamlining the process business owners have to navigate in order to do business in the state. She will discuss the development of online services available to business owners in West Virginia and also how the Secretary of State's Office is working closely with the State Tax Department to assist business owners.
