Boone County man charged in sex assault found dead

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Boone County police say an ex-Army paratrooper wanted in a stolen weapons case has been found dead.

Chief Deputy Chad Barker says 27-year-old Zarcus Gore of Danville was dressed in camouflage gear and his face covered in paint when his body was found on mining property near Lick Creek.

The Charleston Daily Mail reports a large amount of painkillers was found with the body, which has been sent to the state medical examiner. Batteries, food and a handgun also were found.

In March, Gore was charged with malicious wounding and sexual assault stemming from a January incident in January.

Barker says after appearing at a preliminary hearing last Thursday, Gore took the weapon and money from his uncle's house and left. A turkey hunter discovered the body Saturday.
