Children's concert to be held at Carnegie Hall

LEWISBURG, W. Va (PRESS RELEASE)--  The Carnegie Children's Choir will present a free concert on Tuesday,  May 14, 2013 in at Carnegie Hall. 

The concert, which begins at 7pm in the Hamilton Auditorium, will feature a collection of West Virginia songs in celebration of our state's sesquicentennial.  

"John Henry", "West Virginia Hills", and "Take Me Home, Country Roads" will be featured on the program. The Carnegie Children's Choir is comprised of children ages 9-14, from public, private and home schools in Greenbrier and Monroe Counties.
 
Singers in the choir are: Alexa and Ariana Angel, Gabby Gessie, Gracie Harbert, Kiah Hill, Rosie Ketchum, Marion Lawson, Callie McFerrin, Maddie Mohler, Abbie Quick, Angel Scott, Chris Scronce, Andrew and Anja St. Clair, Desi Wise, Gabby Withrow, and Blaine Yates.
 
Susan Adkins, Executive Director of Carnegie Hall and a music educator for over 29 years in the Greenbrier County Public Schools, directs the choir, which is accompanied by Leah Trent, Education Director of Carnegie Hall. This performance is the Carnegie Children's Choir final concert of the Spring 2013 semester.
 
Any child age 9-14 who is interested in joining the choir for the Fall 2013 semester can audition at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday , September 10, 2013 between 4 and 5:30 pm. Each child will be asked to sing one verse of "America the Beautiful".

Carnegie Hall's Children's Choir is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
