Princeton High continues tradition of recycling prom for disabled adults

PRINCETON, WV- May 3 is prom night at Princeton High School.
A prom committee has spent every evening this week transforming the gymnasium from athletic arena to ballroom, every inch of the ceiling covered, no visible backboards or bleachers.  But what happens when the dance is over?  Does it all come down?

Through a unique collaboration between PSHS and Friends Unlimited (F.UN.), the ballroom remains intact for a second event almost as big as the first. This year marks the fifth year of recycling the prom for a worthy project.

On Saturday night, over 175 disabled adults and their care providers are expected turn out for a second prom – complete with refreshments, DJ, and photographer.  Grants Supermarket, ResCare, and Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center have donated food items.  Again this year, area beauticians are donating their services to adult participants by advance appointment.

Doors will open Saturday night at 7:00.  For more information, contact Kellan Sarles (304) 887-2652.
