Groups celebrate the National Day of Prayer

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va (WVVA)-- People across the Two Virginias celebrated the National Day of Prayer on Thursday.

Festivities at the Wild Meadow Baptist Church in White Sulphur Springs included music, food, and fellowship.People from the whole community were invited to attend, and many churches from the area collaborated to make the event possible.

There were people praying inside the church sanctuary for the government, the people of Greenbrier County, and others, as well as listening to a praise band.

Pastor O'Dell told WVVA he thinks these days, the nation needs that prayer.

"I think we see the things going on around us, our drug problems... and the school shootings. I think it's time we get back to God and what he would like us to do, instead of straying away from that," he said.

More than 70 people came to the event at the church.

Other services and events were held throughout the area to celebrate the holiday as well.
