HARVEY (NEWS RELEASE) - A New York man is in jail following his arrest on drug charges in Fayette County. Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following information concerning this arrest:

On Tuesday, April 30, 2013 officers from the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the West Virginia State Police executed a search warrant at a residence in the Harvey area of Fayette County near Glen Jean. The search of this residence resulted in the seizure of approximately $300.00 of heroin as well as more than $5,000.00 in cash. The search warrant was obtained after investigators made undercover buys of heroin out of this residence.

Reginald Louis Thomas, age 38, of Elmsford, NY, was arrested and charged with the felony offenses of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Transporting Controlled Substances into the State. He was arraigned in the Magistrate Court of Fayette County earlier this morning and was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail in lieu of a $140,000.00 bond.

"Drugs are a major problem in our communities," said Sheriff Kessler. "The officers assigned to the Central WV Drug Task Force are working diligently to get these drug dealers off the streets of our communities, but we need the help and support of our local citizens to make our efforts more effective. If you suspect someone of engaging in drug trafficking, please let us know so that we can focus our investigative efforts towards catching these criminals."

This case remains under investigation by officers assigned to the Central WV Drug Task Force. Anyone having any information about drug trafficking in Fayette County is urged to contact the Fayette County Sheriff's Office at (304) 574-4216, the Central WV Drug Task Force at (304) 872-0377 or Crime Stoppers at (304) 255-7867 or you can submit a tip thru either the Crime Tips section of the Sheriff's Office website, http://fayettesheriffwv.net/ or thru our Department Facebook page, "Fayette County Sheriff's Department."
