Rahall in region for small biz symposiums

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-W.Va.) Monday announced that he will host a series of symposiums in southern West Virginia to increase awareness about Federal programs and services for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

"As a former small business owner, I know first-hand the importance of small businesses in strengthening communities and bolstering economic growth and job creation," said Rahall. "I invite business owners, community leaders, and interested citizens to attend and learn about the Federal assistance and resources that are available to help our local businesses grow and succeed, not only in competition with bigger companies, but also against foreign rivals in this tough global economy."

Rahall has invited representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development to participate in three sessions focused on financing, marketing, and exporting opportunities. SBA officials also will be available to familiarize business owners with the new health care reform law and to assist them in taking advantage of the benefits available under that act.

Rahall is scheduled to be in Beckley from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Cross Point Center. He will then be in Bluefield from 2-5 p.m. for at the Tierney Conference Center in Dickason Hall on the Bluefield State College campus.
