    MERCER CO. (WVVA) - Dustie Beller was on trial for running over a woman with her car all for chainsaw. While she was found not guilty of attempted murder, the jury did find her guilty of petty larceny, conspiracy, failure to stop and render aid, and malicious wounding. BECKLEY, W.Va. – Hospice of Southern West Virginia will host the 13th Annual Palliative Care Conference June 13th and 14th at Tamarack Conference Center, in Beckley, WV.
 
The two-day conference features national and local presenters from the fields of medicine, social work, pharmacy, and administration.
 
"We receive so much support from the health care community in our area, and we view our annual Palliative Care Conference as a way that we can give a little back and at the same time share up to date information in our field to our local health care professionals and leaders in our community," said Josh Jones, Public Relations Director for Hospice of Southern WV. "We offer continuing education credits for a variety of fields. It is truly unique for our area, and our state."
 
Participants will listen to a number of presentations on topics such as end-of-life care, end-of-life ethics, pain management, grief, stress management, team building, and power of humor in the workplace.  The keynote address will be delivered by Greg Risberg, motivational speaker who has addressed over 500,000 people with his "humor with a message".  Greg is the author of two books, including the recently published "52 Bright Ideas to Bring More Humor, Hugs, and Hope Into Your Life!"  Also presenting will be Tani Bahti, CT, CHPN  on improving end of life care;  Dr. Alexander Peralta, MD, DABHPM on hospice and palliative medicine; and Jim Harris, LICSW , on helping people reach their potential. 
 
The two-day conference will challenge and strengthen your knowledge of palliative care concepts, whether one is a seasoned palliative care professional or someone who simply wants a broadened understanding of palliative and end-of-life care issues, trends and approaches.  Generally, attendees are a blend of representatives from a variety of disciplines, including Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, CNAs, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Counselors, Health Care Administrators, and Hospice Volunteers.
 
Hospice of Southern WV's Palliative Care Conference is applying for Continuing Education Unit's (CEU's) from WV Board of Registered Nurses and WV Board of Respiratory Care, from the WV Board of Social Work Examiners, the WV Board of Examiners in Counseling, , and from the WV Board of Pharmacy. HSWV is also applying for Continue Medical Education (CME) credits from the Raleigh County Medical Society.
