5th annual All Together Arts Week in Mercer County kicks off May 4th

PRINCETON, W.Va. - The fifth annual All Together Arts Week in Mercer County, WV will kick off in grand fashion with a parade and artful celebration in downtown Princeton Saturday, May 4th beginning at 11am and going until dark.

The day will include live music, art activities, artisan vendors and a colorful parade. The week highlights arts activities in Mercer County and is intended to showcase the landscape of creative opportunities available in the area and bring people together.

Each year all Together Arts Week shines the light on a week in the life of the arts in Mercer County. Many events take place regularly and were already set to take place; ATAW seeks to shine the spotlight on and raise awareness of these activities. This year, the week includes the 100th Anniversary of Craft Memorial Library, Princeton Camera Club's Amateur Photographic Exhibition, Windhorse Healing Arts Association's Holistic Healing Sampler, Appalachian Penworks' Poetry in the Park event, Fantastic Fridays at Gary Bowling's House of Art, a Stages Music School student showcase, Open Jam at The Lil' Opry, "Civil War Voices," a historic musical at The Summit Theatre, live music at The Ramsey School, an end of the week mixer at The RiffRaff Arts Collective and more. Before the May 4 Kick-Off festivities commence, there will be a "circle talk" for networking among creative people in and around Mercer County. The intent is to allow new connections to be made, spur collaboration and share ideas. Anyone wishing to participate is welcome and is encouraged to bring business cards or any other materials they have to share.

The event is sponsored by LLyniuM entertainment, The RiffRaff Arts Collective, J-104, The Bronze Look, The Bronze Element and The Turnaround Concert and Gathering Hall.

    Beckley (WVVA) -- A Parkersburg, West Virginia man accused of robbing the Kroger on Harper Road entered a plea in Beckley on Friday. Jonathan James Rager pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Robbery. Police said he went into the store last March and pulled a gun on the cashier. Authorities were able to track Rager down at a Days Inn in Bradley two days later.
