Rockefeller congratulates Hinton native on cabinet confirmation
WASHINGTON (NEWS RELEASE) - Senator Jay Rockefeller today congratulated Sylvia Mathews Burwell, a native of Hinton, West Virginia, after she was confirmed in the Senate by a vote of 96-0 to be Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
"As Congress works to put our country on course for a strong economic future, I am so pleased that Sylvia Mathews Burwell will have a prominent seat at the table as Director of OMB, helping to steer our budget and economic policy in the right direction," said Rockefeller. "I have been privileged to know Sylvia and her family as personal friends for many years and have always proudly supported her career in public service—from Hinton, West Virginia all the way to the White House as a top staff member of the Clinton Administration. Sylvia's abundant knowledge and budget experience make her the right person to take on our country's fiscal challenges. The overwhelming bipartisan support Sylvia received during her confirmation proves that. In addition to her impressive experience, she is humble—sticking to her West Virginia roots—and dedicated to helping those in most need. I know she will exceed expectations in her new position."
