Man killed in Greenbrier County accident

ASBURY, W. Va (WVVA)-- One man is dead after his truck flips over an embankment on Interstate 64.

It happened near the 164 mile marker.

Trooper Simmons with the West Virginia State Police said the man was traveling East when his truck went over the median, across the Westbound lanes with oncoming traffic, and over an embankment into a ravine.

He was killed on impact.

Police had been warned about a reckless driver matching his description driving through the area and had been on their way to intercept him when the accident happened.

Trooper Simmons said the rain as well as speed were factors in the accident, and it is undetermined at this time whether alcohol was involved. An empty beer can was found in the vehicle.

The man's identity is not being released at this time. WVVA will continue to follow this story.
