UPDATE: Woman with gun fatally shot by trooper


COAL CITY (WVVA) - State Police say a Raleigh County woman was shot dead by a trooper after brandishing a firearm in the officer's direction.

Sgt. Michael Baylous with the West Virginia State Police says Raleigh County 911 received a call from 47-year-old Lisa Rene Miller Thursday evening regarding suicide.

Two troopers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, police say the subject became agitated and turned a gun on the troopers.

Miller was fatally shot. The troopers involved have been placed on leave, Baylous said.


COAL CITY (WVVA) - Raleigh County dispatchers say the West Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting on Coal City Road, Raleigh County.

It happened Thursday night around 7 p.m.

Details of the shooting are still unclear. Trooper Marsh and Trooper Palmateer responded to the scene and are investigating the case.
