BECKLEY (WVVA) -- The rejection of Manchin's gun control legislation, calling for tighter background checks, is a win for some local people.

The owners of Flat Top Arms sponsored a rally last month in Beckley against the proposal.  Hundreds attended, including local and state officials.

Today, they think their voices have been heard.

One of the owners, Diana Wood, says they'll be continuing the fight to keep second amendment rights.

"I think that the rally is the type of thing that we need to do all across America because the majority has been silent for so long and let the minority speak, that the minority is ruling.  And that is what has happened all across America and that is why things are as they are today," says Wood.

Wood adds that they're planning another rally for the fall.
