    MONTCALM, W.Va. (AP) -- A barn demolition project in Mercer County has uncovered a 19th century log school. Brian Pigg discovered the hand-hewn logs at his barn's core while removing siding. The barn is located on Browning Lambert Mountain in the Montcalm area. Retired Montcalm High School history teacher Jack Johnson tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraphthat the log structure was once known as the Mullins School. LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month across the nation.

The Family Refuge Center in Lewisburg is prepared to take action to help suffering people in the community.

The latest addition to their team, Jessica Bailey, is the new Sexual Assault Response Team coordinator.

The team is made of law enforcement, attorneys, and community leaders. Bailey said its focus is on preventing sexual assault in the community, and making people feel safe.

"What's key about this process is just remembering what's important for the victims," she said, "And to make sure they are the most comfortable throughout the whole process."

Bailey said it is especially necessary to continue the S.A.R.T. in Greenbrier County.

"Our reporting [sexual assaults] is really low here," she said. "The idea isn't that it's not happening, it's just not being reported. We want victims to feel comfortable coming forward and to know they have that support throughout the whole community."

The S.A.R.T. in Greenbrier County is funded through state grants.
