Local hospital aides in end of life decisions

BECKLEY (WVVA) -- End of life care might be a hard conversation to have with your loved ones, but hospitals nationwide, down to the two Virginias, are devoting attention tomorrow, to make those conversations and decisions a little easier.

Raleigh General Hospital, among others, will be participating in "National Healthcare Decision Day."

They'll have staff and paperwork readily available for people to establish a living will, medical power of attorney or both.

"This is a good time to make those conversations. It's in the back of people's minds, but maybe they just need a little push and say, okay, let's go ahead and get this done, and then I know that should anything happen, I've got somebody in place," says Vicki Silosky, patient care representative at Raleigh General.

The event is open for all adults, but is recommended for the elderly or chronically ill.

Make sure to bring a photo ID with you.

Raleigh General will have staff available from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
