Revamped teen center opens in Princeton

PRINCETON (WVVA) - Teens will have a new place to play this summer in Mercer County.

Planet Xtreme Teen Center has opened their new facilities on Brick Street.

The center was formerly at the Fred Gilbert Center, but has now moved to the bigger facility that features pool, air hockey, ping pong, video games and a snack bar just to name a few.

Planet Xtreme representatives say the facility is just what area teens need so they can stay off the streets and away from drugs.

"Schools offer a lot of things: sports, activities, but a lot of students that come here do not do those things in school," said Pam Smith. "And that is who we target. A lot of organizations that want a program do not have a place and having a place is so important. If you have a place you can do so much more."

Planet Xtreme representatives say that the program would not be possible without the Vietnam veterans and all the other community members who helped build the new facility.
