Display by local chocolatier amazes spectators

LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)- An edible display was the talk of the town at the Lewisburg Chocolate Festival.

Local pastry Chef Amy Mills and her team created a girl's favorite sight-- shoes, purses, a dress, etc. made entirely of edible materials.

It's extremely detailed, right down to the seams on the shoes, the folds of the leather, and the individual pieces of jewelry.

Mills says a lot of work went into the creation.

"It's made out of white and dark modeling chocolate, gum paste, pastillage, rolled fondant, and lots of chocolate," she said.

"We've worked on it for well over a week," she said, but she added the planning took about a month.

But she had help from the design ideas.

"Aaron Maxwell, the owner of Harmony Ridge Gallery, actually came up with the idea," said Mills. "We jumped on it. We thought it would be a fun thing to do."

Spectators took photos of the display, but the biggest rule was not to eat it.
