WVVA is pleased to call for entries for our Eighth-Annual "Don't Drink" PSA contest from our graduating high school senior classes.
WVVA and The Two Virginias' CW need your school's help. We need each of the schools in our viewing area to produce a "Don't Drink" public service announcement that will air heavily on both television channels.
As a reminder, here's how it works. We ask that every school send in a 30-second PSA that will discourage drinking produced by your Class of 2014. We will air all entries on WVVA and the CW from the time we start receiving them through the graduation season. We will also have a page on wvva.com dedicated to the entries.
Visitors to the site will be encouraged to view the entries and vote for their favorite. Online votes will count toward the winning formula, but not solely determine the winning entry. The winning PSA will be chosen on Wednesday, May 21 and will be announced on-air during our 6 PM newscast. Remind your students to be creative and have fun, but be sure they get the message out.
The winning class will receive $100 courtesy of Grants Supermarket, as well as numerous prizes from our area advertisers to help with their Project Graduation -- not to mention bragging rights with their peers from other schools across the Two Virginias. We will present the traveling trophy and the prizes prior to their special event.
Don't forget that there are no losers as each participating school will receive $50 from Grants.
We know that drinking can be more prevalent at this time of year, but with your school's help, we can make a difference in all of our communities.
Deadline for entry is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14. Online voting will open at 9 a.m. the following day. Mail your entry to the below address and please make sure the name of the school is marked on the label. We can accept DVD, VHS or Mini-DV formats.
