National Park Service seeks Jamboree volunteers


MOUNT HOPE, W.Va. (AP) -- The National Park Service is looking for volunteers to help with activities related to the Boy Scouts of America's 2013 National Jamboree.

The agency says it will be conducting several activities during the event scheduled from July 15 through July 24 in southern West Virginia.

More than 50,000 Scouts, volunteers and staff are expected to attend the jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Fayette County.

New River Gorge National River needs volunteers are needed to help with trail building and supervising of Scouts constructing new trail.

They'll also need volunteers to operate the park's visitor and to staff information tents.

Park staff will hold one-day training sessions in June. Volunteers must be able to commit at least two days of service during the event, plus the additional training day.
