Police: Tips led to Virginia State hazing arrests

Posted:

PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Petersburg police say hazing charges against three Virginia State University students stem from tips received by Crime Solvers.

Police tell media outlets that the investigation began after the tips were received in late November 2012. The incident occurred last August and involved multiple victims.

University spokesman Tom Reed said the incident occurred off campus in Petersburg.

Student Government Association president Brandon Randleman, 22-year-old Leroy Amankrah and 23-year-old Christopher Barnes-Prevot are each charged with misdemeanor hazing. Police also charged 28-year-old William Nicholson, who isn't a student at Virginia State.

All four are Petersburg residents and members Alpha Phi Alpha.
