Bluefield's pit bull ordinance clears major hurdle

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) -

A controversial pit bull ordinance in Bluefield, WV passes a major hurdle.

The board of directors has approved the measure on first reading.

The second reading is scheduled for April 23rd.  If the board passes it then it takes effect immediately.

The ordinance requires pit bull owners to register their dogs with the police department.  They have ten days to do so when the bill becomes law.
