Greenbrier Valley Airport Board considers options to keep tower open

The Greenbrier Valley Airport Board meets Wednesday night to consider their next move now that their air traffic control tower is set to close.

Last week the Federal Aviation Administration announced that 149 airport control towers across the country, including the one at Greenbrier Valley will close because of federal sequestration budget cuts.

Airport manager Jerry O'Sullivan says all options are on the table to keep their tower open.

Those options include local funding, staffing the towers only during busy times, running the tower themselves and joining a lawsuit filed by other airports alleging the FAA is not following their own regulations with the tower closings.

The Greenbrier Valley Airport tower will officially close May 5th.
