Sex Offender arrested in Beckley

 BECKLEY (PRESS RELEASE) - On Mon., Mar. 18, 2013 at 1500 hours, Cpl. RA Daniel of the West Virginia State Police arrested 63 yoa male sex offender, Joseph Malone Baker of Beckley.

Baker was arrested for Driving Suspended 2nd offense and for Failing to Register as a Sex offender, 1 count. He is a registered sex offender due to convictions dated 1987 of 2nd Degree Sex Offense of an unknown yoa minor through NC; a conviction dated 1997 of Indecent Liberties with a Minor, 2nd Degree Sex Offense and 2nd Degree Rape of a 7 yoa female, 8 yoa female and 9 yoa female through NC; and a conviction dated 2007 of Employing Minors in Sexually Explicit Conduct of a 9 yoa female through Wyoming County, WV. 

He must register for life due to the victims being minors and due to the sexually violent crimes.

Cpl. Daniel arrested Mr. Baker after observing him driving a white in color Ford truck near Harper Rd.  Mr. Baker's driver's license is suspended for numerous unpaid citations and he further maintains a conviction for driving while suspended. Cpl. Daniel was further aware that Mr. Baker was utilizing a vehicle that was not on his sex offender registration and that he had maintained possession of it from Feb. 2013 without reporting it.

Sex offenders are required to register any changes to their information within ten (10) business days of the changes to include vehicles.

Mr. Baker was remanded to the Southern regional Jail pending arraignment.
