Man arrested after running from police

NEOLA, W.V. (WVVA)-- A man was arrested in Neola after he fled from the police.

According to a criminal complaint, Marshall Bittinger Jr. of White Sulphur Springs ran from the police after they were dispatched to a domestic disturbance Wednesday night.

9-1-1 advised police that callers said he was choking a woman and holding a gun to her head.

Marshall was in the back yard when police arrived and when they approached, he ran.

Officers tackled him to the ground, and he kicked one of them while trying to get away. Police said they needed to use reasonable force to restrain him and place him in handcuffs.

Bittinger is charged with fleeing an officer and battery of a state employee. He is free on $2,500 bond.
