LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- Two people led police on an alleged car chase Saturday night.
Deputies said 31-year-old Debra Yates of Meadow Bluff and 38-year-old Cephas Blankenship of Ronceverte attempted to escape after a traffic stop.
Blankenship is a suspect in a robbery investigation, said Deputy T. C. Webber of the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department in a police report.
Yates and Blankenship led deputies up Muddy Creek Mountain near Lewisburg, until Blankenship got out and ran.
Deputy Webber chased after him on foot and was able to use a Taser to stop him, then take him into custody.
Police said Yates continued to drive the escape-vehicle toward Low Gap Road. Alderson and Ronceverte police stopped her and she admitted to using a narcotic pill known as Roxy.
Blankenship is charged with intentionally fleeing from an officer and operating the vehicle showing a reckless indifference to safety.
Yates is charged with intentionally fleeing from an officer while under the influence of controlled substances.
