PRINCETON (WVVA) - A former Summers County commissioner has been indicted by a Mercer County Grand Jury.
Court records indicate Jerry Berry has been charged with embezzlement and fraudulent schemes.
The alleged victim is the owner of the website wvyourway.com, of which Berry was an employee.
Investigators tell WVVA News the victim was not getting checks made out to him and that Berry was apparently keeping the money. Plus, when the pair split, Berry allegedly continued to use the website to do business and set up a separate bank account for profits.
The case is scheduled for trial in April.
In March 2012, Berry made headlines by being tentatively named the Economic Development Director of the City of Bluefield.
He withdrew his name from the position less than two weeks later.
According to a previous WVVA.com report, the two side could not come to terms on a contract.
