Hinton arson suspect indicted on attempted murder charges

HINTON (WVVA) - The man accused of intentionally setting two destructive fires in Hinton has now also been charged with attempted murder.

Billy Joe Gill, 25, now faces two counts of attempted murder in addition to two counts of first-degree arson in connection with the pair of Feb. 26 fires that destroyed a home on 5th Avenue and an entire row of apartments on Temple Street.

No one was injured in the fires.

Gill was arrested a shortly after the fires were set at a nearby residence.

According to the criminal complaint against Gill, he was found wearing rubber gloves and smelling of kerosene.

A total of 25 individuals were indicted by the Summers County Grand Jury on charges ranging from grand larceny to sexual abuse.
