Coal Symposium underway in Charleston


CHARLESTON (WVVA) - Coal industry leaders are gathered at the Charleston Civic Center this week for the annual Coal Symposium.

A jam-packed schedule of speakers range from Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin to U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall.

The three-day conference will discuss environmental and legal facing the industry -- as well as regulatory issues such as drug testing and the legal liabilities of mine inspectors to enforcement trends.

Bill Raney, president of the West Virginia Coal Association says that bringing leaders together to discuss issues helps make the industry better.

The symposium concludes on Friday.
