Storm dumps 2 feet of snow in parts of W.Va

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Crews in West Virginia are working to restore power in areas hit hard by a late-winter storm.

The storm that blew through on Wednesday dumped 2 feet of snow in some areas and left more than 20,000 customers without power.

As of Thursday morning, First Energy reported about 4,300 outages. The company says some customers may be without power until Friday.

Schools remained closed Thursday in Hampshire, Hardy, Pendleton and Pocahontas counties.

The National Weather Service in Baltimore said the Pendleton County community of Franklin received 24 inches of snow. Other snowfall totals in eastern parts of the state included 17 inches in Romney, 14 inches in Circleville and Slanesville, and 11 inches in Berkeley Springs.
