MERCER CO. (WVVA) - Dustie Beller was on trial for running over a woman with her car all for chainsaw. While she was found not guilty of attempted murder, the jury did find her guilty of petty larceny, conspiracy, failure to stop and render aid, and malicious wounding. The victim had this to say about the verdict. "Um very happy,” Mackenzie Ansley said. “To be expected -- the attempted murder charge. I knew coming into it, it was an iffy charge. LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- Soon an expected 200 people will dive into icy-cold water for a good cause.

It's almost time for the 10th annual Polar Bear Plunge in Greenbrier County, where people will be "freezin' for a reason."

Plungers will fundraise for the Child andYouth Advocacy Center in Lewisburg, then take a dip in the water... some in costume.

The CYAC raises awareness against child abuse. It also supports children who may be affected by it.

The center relies on donations to stay open, and this is their largest fundraiser.

Ann Weikle, the Executive Director of the CYAC, said, "We rely on special events so we can serve the children. So that we have the child-friendly facility here for these kids to come to."

Weikle said it's important to maintain the facility, and to provide services who come to it in need. "They have a neutral environment [here] that feels safe for them," she said.

The Greenbrier Valley Polar Bear Plunge Club will meet at the Blue Bend Recreational Area at 1 PM on March 9, where they will take the plunge together. Spectators are welcome to attend.
