Hinton couple's bond grows stronger after fire

HINTON (WVVA) - A Hinton couple that lost everything in last week's devastating fire says they have gained something more valuable that has risen from the ashes.

Jennifer Goodman and her boyfriend David Harvey tell WVVA News the aftermath of the fire has brought them closer together and the now plan to get married.

"Being stuck in a hotel room we have actually gotten to talk a lot about growing up as children, thing that we have in common, the things that we have been through," Goodman said. "And now we are enduring this (fire) together and it has brought us closer together."

Harvey added: "It gave us a chance to grow tremendously close."

WVVA News was with the couple as they visited the remnants of their 'Brick Row' apartment for the first time since the fire.

Goodman credits Harvey for the saving the lives of her and her three children when the fire broke out last Tuesday.

"If it wouldn't have been for him I don't know that I would have gotten my kids out," she recalled.

On Monday, the couple picked up their marriage license from the Summers County Courthouse. They plan to wed on Friday.

"We have lost everything but one thing we are sure of is that we will have each other ... and tomorrow can be better" Goodman said.
