Complaint reveals new details in arson arrest

HINTON (WVVA) - The criminal complaint against the man charged in a pair of destructive arson fires in Summers County reveals new details about his swift capture.

According to the criminal complaint obtained by WVVA News, 25-year-old Bobby Joe Gill was arrested less than two hours after the initial fire was set at a home on 5th Avenue in Hinton.

According to the complaint, the victim of the first fire, Jeanie Adkins, told police Gill had been to her home, requesting to be let in shortly before the fire started.

The Hinton Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 1:24 a.m.

The second fire was reported on Temple Street at 1:55 a.m.

At 2:50 a.m., police located Gill in the bedroom of a third residence in Hinton. He was found sitting on a bed wearing rubber gloves and smelling of kerosene, according to the document.

Gill is now charged with two counts of first-degree arson in the pair of fires.
