LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)-- The process to restore a historic Greenbrier County landmark has begun.

A bucket truck was parked outside the county district courthouse Monday, allowing contractors to get a closer look at the structure from above.

The county commission is on the hunt for a contractor to begin work on the cupola.

The bid packet says the cupola needs a new paint job, and there are damaged wood sides, historic glass windows, and roofing that need repairs.

The project is still in the pre-bid stages, and contractor bidding is expected in March.

The commission has set a deadline for the entire project to be finished by June 30, but they hope to move it up to the 20th to accommodate for West Virginia's 150th Celebration on that date.
