LEWISBURG, W. Va (WVVA)--Two alleged arsonists were back in court for preliminary hearings Monday.

Charles Byron Collins of Alderson (pictured at left) and Arthur Allen of Ballard (pictured at left) are accused of setting a home on fire on Spring Street in Alderson.

Alderson police say it happened just after midnight on Friday, November 9, 2012.

Court documents said Allen arranged to pay Collins $5,000 to burn the house. Officers suspect it was meant as retaliation against the homeowner.

Police said Collins broke into the home through the back door, poured gasoline inside, and lit it. When they arrived on the scene the house was burning with most of the fire in the back of the residence.

Collins is charged with first degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson.

Allen is charged with arson and conspiracy to commit a felony.

A magistrate set each man's bond at $75,000.00 on Monday.
