Man accused of kidnapping his mother in attempt to pawn iPad

A Mercer County man is accused of kidnapping his own mother.

Matthew Tiller and his wife Avonda Tiller are both charged with kidnapping.

According to court records, Tiller forced his mother, the victim, to take him and Avonda to a pawn shop to pawn the mother's iPad for drug money.

At first the mother refused, but as Matthew became more adamant the victim was afraid for her safety.

During the confrontation court documents indicate Avonda sat on the couch laughing at the victim.

During Monday morning's arraignment no bond was set.

Judge Derek Swope ordered a mental evaluation for both suspects.
