Concerns over the proposed Greenbrier Co. Fire Levy

Posted:

GREENBRIER CO. W.V. (WVVA)--- Citizens express concerns as voting day approaches over a proposed tax.

Part of the proposed Greenbrier county fire levy includes creating a new position called the "fire coordinator" to aid the county's fifteen departments.

Some people question the salary that person will be paid.

It will be staffed by an experienced firefighter, who will be interviewed and recommended by the fireman's association, then approved by the Greenbrier County commission.

Firefighters say the fire coordinator is needed.

The coordinator will be managing the levy funds and distributing them fairly, helping departments keep accurate records and make group purchases, as well as going out in the field to work a scene as needed.
