Tobacco use banned at all Tazewell school facilities

TAZEWELL (WVVA) - Tazewell County's school system is now completely tobacco free.

The school board has banned the use of tobacco products at all schools -- along with school-related facilities and activities in the county.

That means if you want to smoke or use tobacco at a sporting event you will have to leave the property.

The new policy applies not only to students and staff, but also to volunteers, contractors and other performing services on behalf of the school system.

"With the research that is out today on second-hand smoke, everyone knows how important it is to keep our students healthy," said Superintendent Dr. Brenda Lawson. "As adults we are role models for students."
