W.Va. pump prices spike 16 cents in a week

Posted:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Like their counterparts nationwide, West Virginia motorists are paying significantly more at the pump this week.

AAA's weekly Fuel Gauge found that state residents paid an average of 16 cents more for a gallon of regular unleaded gas this week compared to a week ago. The auto club says a number of factors played a role -- higher oil prices, refinery issues and the switch to summer-blend fuel.

The average price for a gallon of gas in West Virginia is $3.85. That's higher than the U.S. average of $3.74.

Gas prices range from a low of $3.80 in Martinsburg to highs of $3.89 in Huntington and Parkersburg.
