As people continue to battle the winter blues, Sports Director Jaime Baker took a look at an interval-training class in Lewisburg.
The Greenbrier Valley Fitness Center offers "Gladiator Training," which is a high intensity interval teaining class.
"I work out at a 4-second pace, with a 15 second rest inbetween for ten exercises. Then, at the end of that session, you do a two-minute rest and then another set of ten," says instructor and creator, Jason Barrett Morgan. "I have ten exercises set up that we'll do for round one. We'll do round two as another set of ecercises, then we'll go back to the beginning for another round."
The high intensity and dynamic movements are huge calorie burners, and a great way to shape muscles.
"I've tried the DVDs, games for the Wii, and you stick to it for a couple weeks, then you just kind of stop. I have stuck to the class for a year now," says participant Ruth Caruthers. "I've lost weight, I've goteen stronger. My endurance has gotten longer. It's just really been great."
