Expansion of the TransDominion Express

Posted:

WYTHEVILLE (WVVA)-- The Committee to Advance the TransDominion Express held a meeting in Wytheville Tuesday to discuss the expansion of the rail system.

The train currently runs from Lynchburg to Washington DC, but will soon extend to Roanoke by 2014. The committee hopes to then expand the rail system all the way to Bristol, Knoxville, and beyond.

Governor Bob McDonnell recently announced a new transportation plan which will fund the new rail service to Roanoke.

Committee members say the expansion will give communities along the railroad corridor such as Wytheville an economic boost when passengers stop along the way.
