Woman falls asleep at wheel on I-64

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va (WVVA)-- Crews responded to an accident on Interstate 64 on Friday.

It happened around 10:30 AM near mile marker 171, close to White Sulphur Springs.

The Greenbrier County Sheriff's Office and Lewisburg Fire Department responded.

Police said the driver fell asleep at the wheel while traveling Eastbound, slammed into a guardrail, and careened across the median into the Westbound lanes where her car struck another guardrail.

Miraculously, she was ok.

Officers told WVVA she was shaken, but all right. She was not transported to the ER from the scene.

One of the westbound lanes was closed for a few hundred yards while crews cleared the scene.
