Students jump rope for heart health

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va (WVVA)-- Students at White Sulphur Springs are jumping rope for a good cause.

Greenbrier County Schools are celebrating "Heart Week" to educate students on the importance of heart health.

Educators at White Sulphur Springs Elementary School integrated that into their Valentine's Day Party, giving the kids healthy snacks and exercise during the day.

Phys-ed teacher Tracy Asbury said this is a great way to get kids excited about heart health.

"We talk about sick hearts, and a lot of their relatives have sick hearts, so they really buy into exercising if you explain it to them," he said. "{Even the little guys. The more you do, the more kids will do, and the more they want to do. Get them moving and keep them moving."

Students raised over $300 for the American Heart Association while jumping rope.
