Greenbrier County man arrested, charged with animal cruelty

RAINELLE, W. Va (WVVA)-- Ryan Cadle of Rainelle, pictured at left, was arrested for animal cruelty Thursday.

Police said he let his dog go ten weeks without food or water.

A neighbor found the bulldog and police discovered it belonged to Cadle.

Chief JP Stevens with the Rainelle Police Department said, "It should have probably been a 45-pound dog. And it weighed almost 15 when we got it. It probably wouldn't have survived another night if we hadn't have gotten it."

Stevens said the dog is now doing well at the Greenbrier County Humane Society, and it has put most of its body weight back on since it arrived there two weeks ago.

Cadle is charged with obstructing justice for originally providing police with a false name, as well as animal cruelty, failure to update shots, apply for tags, and keep the dog on a leash.

His bond is set at $2500.
