Gil McClanahan

Gil McClanahan joined the WVVA News team in February 2013 as anchor of WVVA News at 6 and Content Manager.

Gil is excited about living and working in his home state. A native of Poca, W.Va., Gil is a graduate of Cross Lanes Christian School in Cross Lanes and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio.

Gil brings 18 years of broadcasting experience, having previously worked for two television stations in Charleston.

Some of highlights of his career include moderating a debate in Putnam County in April, 2012 of the candidates for West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner, getting up close and personal with a grizzly bear in Idaho, and driving a tractor-trailer as part of a special report.

Some of his memorable interviews include Bill Clinton, Kenny Chesney, Pete Rose and a Eastern North Carolina mother who had just lost her son at sea.  He was a commercial fisherman.

Gil and his wife Connie have one son, Trevor.
