    CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) -- A man accused of shooting and wounding two women at a community college inside a Christiansburg mall has pleaded guilty to four felony charges. PINEVILLE (WVVA) - Police have released names and details of Tuesday evening's homicide in the Brenton area.

John New, 20, of Briar Creek was arrested early Wednesday morning in the Gilbert area of Mingo County.

New has been charged with first-degree murder, grand larceny and daytime robbery.

Police say New was inside the Mill Creek residence of Elaine Birchfield when she returned home Tuesday evening. Police say New killed Birchfield and fled in her vehicle, a silver GMC Sierra.

Birchfield's cause of death has not been released.

Birchfield, 60, was a bus driver for Wyoming County Schools.

New is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail. He is expected to be arraigned in Pineville later today.

PINEVILLE (WVVA) - A suspect in Tuesday evening's homicide in Wyoming County is in custody.

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Department confirms a person was arrested in the Gilbert area around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Charges are currently pending.

Further details are expected to be released later this morning.

The suspect is being held at Southwest Regional Jail.

WVVA News will have more information as it is made available.

BRENTON (WVVA)  - Police in Wyoming County are investigating a homicide in the Brenton area.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m., when a person was found dead inside a residence on Mill Creek Road.

Sheriff Randall Aliff says there is enough evidence to believe the case is a homicide.

Police are seeking a silver 1999 GMC Sierra K1500 that was missing from the residence where the homicide occurred.

The truck has a front plate with a picture of a horse and the word 'Magic.' The rear mudflaps say 'Cowgirl Up.'

Further details are not available at this time. WVVA News will continue to provide new information as it becomes available.
