Bluefield: Letters to Food City CEO remain unanswered

Posted:

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - The City of Bluefield has not given up efforts to bring a grocery store back to Bluefield Plaza.

Mayor Linda Whalen said Tuesday that Tom Lilly -- co-owner of the plaza -- has written two letters to K-VA-T CEO Steve Smith asking him to meet with city officials.

Whalen says K-VA-T has not responded to the letters.

K-VA-T -- parent company of Food City -- currently holds the lease to the vacant space which used to be Kroger.

Kroger closed the Bluefield location in 2012.
