Bluefield (WVVA)--Students at Bluefield High School are learning more about the number one killer of teens in the U.S., car crashes.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration more than 3,500 teens are killed each year.
This morning Cara Filler, a nationally acclaimed teen driving safety expert told student how they can "Drive to Save Lives." Filler is traveling to schools across West Virginia, telling her very personal story. "I watched my identical twin, my best friend die in a car wreck. It definitely changed the course of my life. I started speaking because I wanted to change the planet. I no longer speak to save the planet. I just want them to know what choices they have to take care of themselves and keep their friends safe."
West Virginia Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD, will be helping to spread the message by reaching out to chapters statewide. The tour is funded by the West Virginia Governor's Highway Safety Program and State Farm Insurance.
