Benefit to help fire victims rebuild

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - A local restaurant is pitching in to help a family who lost their home to fire rebuild.

Chick-fil-A at the Mercer Mall in Bluefield is donating 10 percent of sales on Wednesday to Gladys Wood and her son, David.

The Woods lost their home on Route 219, near Lindside in Monroe County, to a devastating fire on New Year's Day.

When the fire broke out, 84-year-old Gladys pulled her son -- who has Downs Syndrome and is legally blind -- from the burning home.
