Beckley PD hires evidence custodian, gets new vehicle

BECKLEY (WVVA) - The Beckley Police Department has recently filled its vacant Evidence Custodian position.

Randy Boyd, a retired captain of the Beckley PD will take over the Evidence Custodian position. The vacany had been temporarily filled by Capt. Mullens.

Boyd brings more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, according to a news release from the Beckley PD.

The department has also acquired an incident command vehicle which will be utilized in major crime scenes.

The vehicle will allow investigators to have more resources on scene and lets them catalog and turn over evidence directly to the evidence custodian on scene.

The vehicle can also be used during community events that require police security and/or traffic control.
